Most known as one of the toughest fitness experts around, Jillian Michaels from the famous show "The Biggest Loser", is finding herself trying to defend her weight loss empire against legal battles.
As a teenager born in southern California Jillian struggled with her own weight which lead her to become one of the most known fitness experts in the United States. Jillian's mother enrolled her in a martial arts class, and this was a critical turning point in her life. Dedicating her life to health and fitness, Jillian hopes to help others lose weight with the techniques and methods she learned over the years.
Since Jillian has become a fan favorite she's been able to release books, DVDs, video games and several other fitness products. "The Biggest Loser" on NBC gave Jillian her big break in 2004 when she joined the cast as a personal trainer. In the fall of 2009, NBC announced plans for a spin-off reality show starring Jillian entitled "Losing it with Jillian.
Jillian recently introduced her own line of diet supplements called "Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Calorie Control". An energy booster known as guarana is the main ingredient in this dietary supplement. Kola nut seed extract and coffee beans are the other high-caffeine ingredients that are included in the supplement. Citrus aurantium is an herb found in this supplement that might cause high blood pressure and cardiac issues in extreme circumstances. The main benefit promoted with this product is its ability to control the appetite between meals.
Since the release of Jillian's supplements she has been sued by three different people. Three women, Christie Christensen, Stephanie Creer, and Kathy Hensley, allege in their suits that Jillian exploited her fame by collaborating with a research company to promote weight loss supplements that do not live up to their claims. They also feel Jillian's endorsement influenced their decision to buy a product that failed to deliver any results.
In the most recent development, Jillian is firing back with a lawsuit of her own. A defamation of character has be filed due to a comment made by Creer's attorney. The attorney alleged that Jillian's pills are deceptive because it claims people can consume chocolate cake everyday and still lose fat. Jillian responded that her product never claimed to be a cake buster, and she considers all claims against her product baseless. She asserts the pills well studied before she ever put her name on them.
